A thoughtful gift

May 23, 2014

Gifting is a good gesture. We all love receiving gifts from our friends, family, and loved ones. And we do find happiness in giving gifts to others. Mother Teresa had rightly said ‘It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.’ A gift, howsoever small, when given with affection and love brings joy to the receiver.

See a child’s excitement and thrill when he receives a gift as small as a chocolate or a small toy! See his glowing face and the sparkle in his eyes! It is perhaps because he is innocent and true to his feelings and does not make any effort to control or hide these emotions.

There is a child in all of us. We love getting gifts but at times become shy at times to express the sheer thrill and excitement we get from it. This could be because we are sometimes so full of emotions that we become less vocal about expressing such emotions.

British writer Alexander McCall Smith has rightly said, ‘Gracious acceptance is an art – an art which most never bother to cultivate. We think that we have to learn how to give, but we forget about accepting things, which can be much harder than giving…. Accepting another person’s gift is allowing him to express his feelings for you.’

An important aspect of giving gift is to keep in mind the likes of the person to whom the gift is being given. Finding a right gift is indeed a very difficult task and needs a lot of research and hard work. But believe me a thoughtful gift multiplies the joy of the receiver manifolds and of the giver too.

It is customary to send and give gifts on occasions and festivals or when visiting someone. However, it is not necessary to wait for occasions to give gifts!

One day Arvind just dropped in to see one of his friends whom he was not able to meet for a long time. His friend was thrilled to see him. Arvind gifted him the bottle of Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve, which he had bought keeping in view of his friend’s love for Scotch. This friend got very emotional and was speechless for a few moments but his warm embrace said everything!

The two friends had an easy evening unwinding themselves. Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve had truly been a wonderful gift! He liked this latest blend of Black Dog Scotch whisky which is the only one involving triple maturation process.

A well thought of gift at an unexpected moment can convey a definite feeling of love and bonding among the giver and taker. And the Black Dog TGR did its job wonderfully!
